Jayson Sanchez

Jayson Sanchez is a high school student from Hickory, North Carolina. At a young age, he struggled with feelings of isolation while navigating and bridging his dual identity of being Mexican-American in the rural South. Yet, he found a role model and motivation in his mother as her continuous sacrifices allowed him to gain educational opportunities to grow as a learner and in his identities. Today, he has excelled and persevered as a Latinx high school scholar, with multiple organization involvements, 540 hours of community service, and 200 hours of medical observation experience. To further develop his incredibly detail oriented and resourceful leadership skills, Jayson plans to pursue his undergraduate degree in Chemistry to then apply to Medical School to become an Orthopedic Surgeon. Through his current and future work in the medical field and education, he hopes to create more opportunities for future generations of the Latinx community.
