Henry Cruz Reyes

Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Henry Cruz Reyes migrated to the United States at the age of two and has since called Durham, North Carolina, home. Although his immigrant status has introduced barriers in his life, it has become a key source of growth and development for him, fostering hope and inspiring leadership in spite of these obstacles. While his future academic plans are developing, the impact he wants to have is concrete. Henry seeks to use his immigrant experience to change oppressive systems for immigrant youth and others who live in fear due to negative societal perception. Through his involvement with groups like Latinx Unidos, NC State Youth Council, and Durham Youth Commission, Henry plans to continue advocating for Latinx communities by educating people about the importance of the immigrant community. Henry credits his parents for always supporting him and instilling hardworking values.
