About LatinxEd

Where education advocates

become education leaders.

Because those closest to the problems, are closest to the solution.

Founded by Southern Latine leaders in 2018, LatinxEd is a North Carolina-based, non-profit organization working to dismantle the barriers that have kept our comunidad on the margins of education.

Through leadership development, postsecondary access, and policy advocacy, we empower Latine advocates and allies to grow, heal, and lead in ways that reflect their identities and lived experiences.

Our STAFF

We're working to create a world where the systems that were meant to shape us, can be shaped by us.

At LatinxEd, we understand the challenges of navigating education as Latine students, advocates, and first-generation leaders—because we’ve lived them, too. That’s why we’re on a mission to advance Latine leadership in higher education and reimagine a system that embraces values, and celebrates the diverse strengths of Latine families.

By bridging the gap between those at the top of the education system and the root issues that create inequity, we’re building a future where Latine leaders reclaim their power, find kinship, and thrive—together.

OUR WORK
#SOMOSNC

Reimagining Education By…

Our values—grounded in growth, culture, community, and resilience—guide everything we do. They reflect our commitment to creating equitable educational systems that honor the diverse needs and strengths of Latine leaders, students, and families.

Centering Growth
We believe growth happens through comunidad, healing, and learning—and it should be accessible to everyone. Our mission is to break down the barriers that hold Latine folks back within the education system.
Championing Cultura
Representation matters. That’s why we bring cultura in all its forms into education, ensuring Latine students and professionals have access to the intersectional, culturally competent resources they need to thrive.
Cultivating Comunidad
We reject hyper-individualism because we know how powerful we are when united. No Latine person should feel alone in their educational journey—our work builds spaces of belonging, kinship, and support.
Leading with Resilience
Creating systemic change isn’t easy, but we are committed to doing the hard work. We’ll keep trying, learning, and pivoting—because we know that real change comes from resilience, even when progress feels slow.

Our mission is to

Advance Latine Leaders & Learners

We work to increase the representation, retention, and impact of Latine leaders in postsecondary education. Through programs like the LatinxEd Fellowship, we empower Latine advocates with culturally-informed leadership tools to drive systemic change.

Activate Pathways to Educational Equity

Our goal is to improve access and success in postsecondary education for Latine leaders. We offer bilingual resources, workshops, and policy advocacy to support enrollment, retention, graduation, and FAFSA completion.

Amplify Community Voices for Change

We raise awareness of the challenges facing the Latine community and advocate for meaningful policy changes. Through events, a statewide network, and resource-sharing, we mobilize support for equitable practices and system-level transformation.

Our People

Our staff and board members reflect the diversity and lived experiences of the communities we serve so we can best drive meaningful change alongside our comunidad.

#SOMOSNC

SomosNC is more than a hashtag — it’s a statement of belonging. At LatinxEd, we use SomosNC to affirm that Latino students, families, and education leaders are not outsiders or guests in North Carolina — we are homegrown leaders, decision-makers, and part of the future of this state. SomosNC celebrates the power, pride, and presence of Latine communities in every corner of the state — and reminds us all that we don’t just belong here, we lead here.
