Family Resource Coordinator for Watauga County Schools | Co-founder and CEO of Q' Pasa Appalachia

As the Family Resource Coordinator for Watauga County Schools, Yolanda Adams connects families with resources and support to ensure students' success in the school system. She has developed programs such as the Semillas Program, which provides training and support for parents to become advocates for their children's education. Adams also works with community partners to provide access to healthcare, food assistance, and other services for families in need. In addition to her work in education, Adams is the co-founder and CEO of Q' Pasa Appalachia. This organization promotes cultural understanding and celebrates diversity in the Appalachian region. The organization hosts events and programs that highlight the contributions of Latino(a/x)/Hispanic communities to the region and works to build bridges between different cultures. Adams' work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2017 WCS Servant's Heart Award, the 2020 Baker/Jones Women of the Year Award, and the 2022 Community Chancellor's Award for Inclusive Excellence. Governor Roy Cooper also appointed Adams to serve as a Member of the DRIVE Task Force. Her faith, community, husband, children, and fur babies are Adams's passion and inspiration.
