Valeska Duran Herrera

Valeska Duran Herrera, 13, was born in Durham North Carolina. Her parents migrated to the United States from El Salvador and Guatemala. They worked really hard for her to have a better life than her older brothers had and she appreciates her family for always being there for her. Ever since she was little she loved helping people but she was always shy. Valeska suffered medical complications that impacted her education, in 6th grade she suffered from a cyst on her ovaries which during that time her education was on the line but she couldn’t do anything because of the pain she was going through so she decided to get surgery because her education is very dear to her. Her passion is to do something in the law enforcement community. She always uses her opportunities in anyway she can to build up her confidence and get her started in life.
