Youth Leadership Program Director at El Vínculo Hispano/The Hispanic Liaison

Selina is a proud Latina who was born in Xaltianguis, Guerrero, México. She immigrated to the United States with her mom when she was 5 years old and grew up and attended school in the small town of Vaughan, in Warren County, NC. Selina completed her junior and senior years of high school at the NC School of Science and Mathematics in Durham. In 2016, she became a U.S. citizen. In 2017, she graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with degrees in Psychology and Hispanic Literature and Cultures. Selina is the first person in her family to attend and graduate from a university. Since July 2017, Selina has been the Youth Leadership Program Director for El Vínculo Hispano/ The Hispanic Liaison where she created and launched the Orgullo Latinx Pride (OLP) youth program. Selina manages and facilitates all activities regarding OLP and works directly with the 30 youth currently enrolled in the program. Selina has dedicated her time helping the Latinx community and advancing the opportunities for Latinx families and youth to feel empowered to pursue their dreams.
