State Representative for House District 115 in Buncombe County, North Carolina

Representative Lindsey Prather is proud to have attended North Carolina public schools her entire life. She graduated from UNC-Asheville as a Teaching Fellow Scholar, earning a degree in Sociology and a high school teaching license. She taught Special Education and Social Studies in Buncombe County Schools for six years. There she developed deep connections with the community, while learning more of the challenges that face our schools and our families. After earning her Master’s in Public Affairs from Western Carolina University, she returned to UNCA where she counsels incoming transfer students and works with local community colleges. Rep. Prather has also been consistently involved in local political and community work mainly focused on voter education and improving access to the civic process. Rep. Prather was elected to represent North Carolina House District 115 in November 2022. She was appointed to serve as a member of several committees including, Appropriations, Appropriations - Education, Education - Community Colleges, Education - Universities, and Local Government.
