Prudencio Martinez-Mengel

Director of Latino Outreach at Lenoir Community College

Prudencio Martinez-Mengel was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He completed his graduate studies at East Carolina University with an M.A. in International Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Economic Development, focusing on cross-cultural communication and Latin American issues. His interest in traditional knowledge and practices across different cultures has taken him throughout the Caribbean, Australia, Mexico, and Peru. He is a trained Spanish interpreter with experience in the academic, scientific, and medical fields. He has worked with the Latino community in North Carolina for the past sixteen years. Prudencio is a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council for Hispanic and Latino Affairs, a member of Leadership North Carolina’s Board of Directors, and a 2023 LatinxEd Fellow. He currently works as the Director of Latino Outreach and Recruitment at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC. Prudencio endeavors to seek out new ideas and ways to empower the Latino community through education and opportunities for success.
