Meytal Barak

Director of Early Literacy at Book Harvest

Meytal Barak is an early childhood educator with a MEd in Early Intervention and Family Support from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, she has partnered with children and their families for over 25 years in her hometown, Boston, Miami and currently in Durham, NC. She is the Director of Early Literacy at Book Harvest, and in this role she continues to build an early literacy movement with a focus on parent and family engagement. Meytal believes that this partnership with families is a collaborative and dynamic process, a mutual alliance that supports parents/caregivers and their children in unlocking their full potential, which translates into a lifetime of learning opportunities and success for all children in our communities.
