Kimberly Leiva-Sorto

Kimberly Leiva-Sorto was born and raised in the city of Raleigh in North Carolina. She is almost seventeen, the middle child of Honduran parents, and she is openly proud of that Honduran heritage. She is a Junior at South Garner High School and hopes to study Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after graduation. She is an active member of her community and school, always keeping her plate full with meaningful extracurriculars and community service opportunities. She is passionate about many topics ranging from climate justice, to racial disparities in healthcare, to LatinX equity in education. She aspires to become a healthcare professional specializing in Pediatric Endocrinology, and one day possibly start a nonprofit that will provide quality healthcare to impoverished children in Honduras. She wants to make it known to other LatinX youth that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to as long as they keep believing in themselves and echándole ganas.
