Student Recruitment Specialist at Pitt Community College

Juan Paz, a native from La Ceiba, Honduras, comes from a party of five and has lived in the US a little more than 11 months. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, but decided to pursue a career in teaching, educating students in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics for 18+ years. While working as a full-time teacher he taught English as a Second and Foreign Language (part-time) at an English Academy. He studied a Master’s in Higher Education giving him the chance to work as an Educational Consultant for a University specialized in Agriculture. It was during all these years that he got to develop his leadership skills. He started working in January for the Office of Recruitment at Pitt Community College as a Student Recruitment Specialist, where he connected the underserved student population and the Hispanic Community to Higher Education. He will be joining the Outreach and Continuing Education Division where he hopes to continue influencing and impacting positively the lives of many Hispanics in need. He has lived the last 25 years under one motto “Be the change you want to see in the world”.
