Jose Velasquez Castellano

Jose Velasquez is nineteen years old and was born in Chiapas, Mexico; his family is from Guatemala. Jose currently attends Tufts University as a Questbridge and Golden Door scholar. He intends to major in international relations with a concentration in international economics. He is passionate about education inequality, international affairs, and immigrant justice. Jose is a member of the Tufts’ running club, TeachInCores, Tufts badminton club, United for Immigrant Justice, and Association for Latin American Students. Jose uses his background as an undocumented immigrant to navigate his passions. After college, Jose hopes to work for the Department of Education as a data analyst. He hopes to tackle the school-to-prison pipeline and explore better solutions to the issue.
