Isabella Salazar

Community Impact Intern

Isabella Salazar (she/ella) is a proud Colombian-American from the great state of New York. She is currently a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill double majoring in Public Policy and Psychology with a minor in Studio Art. At UNC, Isabella is on the executive board of UNC PorColombia, a student minister at the Newman Center, and a peer mentor. During the start of the pandemic, Isabella and her close friends formed a nonprofit tutoring service to alleviate the difficult transition of virtual learning. Understanding the inequities that exist within public education, especially among Latinx families, Isabella served as a bilingual Parent Liaison and tutor. Her interests also include creating different works of art, which has allowed her to visually represent her Colombian heritage. After graduation, she hopes to serve underrepresented communities through public service by contributing to effective policy change.
