Hector Ramirez

ESL High School Teacher at A.L. Brown High School

Hector Ramirez's journey to becoming an ESL teacher at his alma mater, A.L Brown was not something he initially foresaw during his adolescent years. Although he wasn't particularly enthusiastic about learning at the time, he later discovered his passion and pursued higher education at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After completing high school, he enrolled at Rowan Cabarrus Community College before transferring to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While there he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and his Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language. Hector's experiences as an ESL student and an immigrant have influenced his teaching approach. He intimately understands the challenges his students encounter, as he has personally experienced similar struggles. His transformation from a reluctant learner to an ESL teacher exemplifies the impact education can have. Hector's ultimate goal is to help his students overcome any obstacles. Outside of his professional life, Hector finds joy in his family. His wife Patricia, along with their children Olivia and Daniel, serve as his pillars of support. Spending time together at local parks or enjoying activities in their backyard is something he cherishes and values.
