Guadalupe Luna-Rojas

Guadalupe Luna (Lupe/Lupita) was born in Chapel Hill, NC. Her parents are from Mexico and immigrated to the U.S in 2002 in search for a better life, for their families and future family. Lupe has a strong passion for poetry and is her school First Youth Poet Laureate. She uses her personal experiences in her poem "Entienes?" Where she talk about how it's hard to grow up in the Hispanic/Latin community and the language barriers one may find themselves growing up, or being new to the country. She also talk about the common stereotypes she faced with growing up. She as well like reading and drawing, and spending time with her friends and family. She hopes to one day be able to help other breaking down language barriers, by spreading awareness in her writing. She also hopes to publish her own poetry book.
