Operations Director at UrbanPromise Charlotte
Born and raised in Charlotte, Erika is grateful for the best of both worlds - the privilege of being raised in the US while celebrating her roots from the beautiful El Salvador. Erika has learned much of what it takes to be a leader as a Pastor's kid serving in her dad's church, Tabernaculo de Gracia. Erika's love for serving her community through nonprofits was born through her experiences in college both locally and internationally which led her to her first job at Center for Prevention Services, promoting healthy lifestyles among youth through substance use prevention in the Charlotte community. As Erika grew in her leadership and involvement in her community, she longed to serve youth in a way that fostered impactful relationships, embraced intentional work towards justice, and integrated faith meaningfully. She found an opportunity to do just that at UrbanPromise Charlotte where students from elementary through high school are served through out-of-school programming centered around personal, academic, and spiritual development. At the center of her world are her parents, her sisters, her husband, Noe, and her daughter, Ester. Erika earned her bachelor’s degree in Religion at Davidson College where she loved studying ancient Roman culture and Paul’s letters.
