Erika Nassar

Biology Teacher at A.L. Brown High School

Erika is a High school biology teacher in the process of getting her Masters in School Administration. Before becoming a teacher, she was a Spanish/English Interpreter at a Hospital which gave her the opportunity to develop her advocating skills. She then moved to Spain to work as a North American Language and Cultural Assistant. In Spain, she lived in two different cities throughout 3 years. Upon her return home, she began teaching at a High School only to come across the unique challenge and privilege of having the majority of students be of hispanic/latino background. Erika also recognized the gap with the education system and the Latino/hispanic community. This has only pushed her to seek out more leadership roles like partaking in Discipline & Behavior Incentive programs, School Improvement Team as well as Equity teams, all with the intent of bridging that gap. Her goals are to grow as a Latina Leader through this fellowship. She would like to share and bring knowledge and solutions which can be locally applied at her school and in the future, throughout her and other surrounding districts.
