Emily Garcia-Perez

From Wilmington, North Carolina and Mexican roots, Emily Garcia-Perez is a high school senior at Eugene Ashley High School dually enrolled in Cape Fear Community College who is determined to pursue a career in the medical field. As an active leader in her community, Emily frequently gives back to her community through service and volunteering. She is a dedicated hospital volunteer and looks forward to a continuation of building connections and experiences on her way towards a medical degree. Emily believes being a first-generation Latinx student is an honor and responsibility and is highly motivated by the journey her immigrant parents embarked on to give her opportunities for her future. Her first-generation experience and familial sacrifices have helped instill a fire within Emily’s spirit as she pursues educational success for herself, her family, and her community.
