Elizabeth Herrera is the Co-Founder and Director of Community Advancement for Casa Azul de Wilson, a nonprofit that serves rural eastern NC. Born and raised in Wilson, NC, Elizabeth is a first-generation Mexican-American and the third oldest of ten children. A 2019 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, she joined the Carolina College Advising Corps, supporting underrepresented students and bridging language barriers. Elizabeth co-founded Casa Azul with Flor Herrera-Picasso, focusing on education equity, culture, civic engagement, and direct services. Casa Azul provides a safe space for the Latinx community, celebrating heritage and offering resources. Elizabeth's work empowers and appreciates the Latinx community, fostering representation and advocacy. She is committed to enhancing educational access and parent involvement, recognizing the complexities and barriers Latino families face. Her dedication ensures that Latino students and their families are well-equipped to navigate academic and professional opportunities.
