Dannet Morales Herrera

Bilingual Family Liaison at Orange County Public Schools

Dannet Morales is the oldest daughter and first college graduate in her family. Since she was a child, Dannet knew she wanted to work and uplift her Latinx community. Her family's experience and her own have motivated her to speak on the beauty of being Latinx. She continued her leadership at UNC Chapel Hill with Mi Pueblo- the largest Latinx organization on campus. In that leadership she learned that her leadership relies on teamwork and living her truth. Currently, she works as the Bilingual Family Liaison for Orange County Public Schools where she provides interpretation and translation services across her home district in the Family Engagement department. She decided to apply for this fellowship because LatinxEd had supported and empowered her throughout her undergraduate experience. She wants to continue growing as a leader with an organization that listens with intention and shares her same values.
