Restorative Practices Coordinator at Riverside High School

Bianca Martinez is a queer, abolitionist educator at Riverside High School in Durham, North Carolina. In her current role as Restorative Practices Coordinator, she explores alternatives to student suspension and expulsion in order to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline. She is a member of the Durham Public Schools inaugural LGBTQIA+ task force, which will ensure safe and supportive practices for Durham Public Schools' LGBTQIA+ students. She is passionate about educational equity and the practice of education as liberation.
