BB Zelaya-Caceres (she/ella) is a proud Salvadoreña-Americana from Alexandria, Virginia. She is a junior at the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill majoring in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Education. At UNC, she is a HYPE tutor, a Mi Pueblo Comunidad committee member, and a Mi Pueblo mentor for their Amigx/Amigitx program. In the future, she hopes to become a teacher, preferably at an elementary or middle school. She is passionate about working with youth, especially at a young age where identity development is important. This is BB’s second semester working with LatinxEd. During the spring, she was a Programming Intern for Somos Carolina, planning and hosting community engagement and wellness events for the students. This year she will be working with Somos Carolina again as a Program Assistant. She is so excited to be a part of the LatinxEd family again this year, and to further grow as an advocate for the Latinx community and its student.
