Axel Herrera Ramos

Born in Honduras, Axel Herrera Ramos has called North Carolina home for over 13 years. A Golden Door Scholar, he is a junior at Duke University studying Economics and Sociology. Passionate about immigration issues, he founded the Define American Chapter at Duke, which has worked with the University administration to lobby Congress, restructure financial aid for undocumented students, and enhance training for faculty and staff. Before Duke, Axel attended Riverside High School, where he helped advocate on behalf of unaccompanied minors, and plans to introduce students at Riverside to student organizing at Duke. Axel aspires to empower others and uplift future generations of leaders.
