Angela Uribe

Spanish Teacher at Graham High School

Angela Uribe is a high school teacher, soccer coach and active school member where she works. Born and raised in Concepción, Chile but adopted by Hornopirén in Chilean Patagonia. Since 2005, she has taught in private, public, and charter schools. Angela moved to the United States in 2019, leaving her fears behind and accepting this new challenge in her life. She is a real Red Devil working as a Spanish Teacher in Graham, NC. Her focus on novice learners works to ingrain proficiency, using authentic resources, real-world tasks, and making language learning both achievable and enjoyable for her students. Angela was nominated by two of her former students to apply for the LatinxEd Fellowship program. Working in a high school where Hispanic students are more than 46% of the student body, the Fellowship Program is the perfect opportunity to learn, get resources, make connections and get the most out of it so she can help her students, parents and community in general. Angela knows representation matters and how hard it is to make their voices heard, so she is willing to go above and beyond for her community to be heard.
