Andrea Garrido Lecca

High School Outreach Specialist at Crosby Scholars Rowan

Andrea Garrido Lecca was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to rural North Carolina when she was 2 years old. She attended K-12, completed undergrad, and now works in the area she grew up in, Rowan County. Andrea graduated from Catawba College in 2021, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and had a minor in Environment & Sustainability. At Catawba, she served as a mentor for Unanue Scholars, a program for Latina high school juniors to experience a college-level course while exploring their own culture and Latinx identity. She is currently serving as a High School Outreach Specialist with Crosby Scholars Rowan, a college access & career readiness nonprofit. She is passionate about community outreach and advocacy, especially organizing to empower the Latinx community. Andrea’s goal is to share her personal experiences as a first-generation student and DACA recipient with other students to give them a sense of familiarity and belonging. In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with family, going to concerts, and listening to history podcasts.
