Community Leadership: Carolina Conexiones Bilingual Patient Navigator
Ana Pardo Monroy (she/ ella) is a Mexican-Spanish immigrant from CDMX. She is a junior at UNC Chapel Hill, double majoring in Human Development and Family Studies and Global Studies. At UNC, she volunteers as a bilingual patient navigator at the UNC Children’s Hospital, through the organization Carolina Conexiones. In the future she hopes to bring together her educational background and her global background, to work hand in hand with communities and aid in necessary project development. She hopes her work will be specifically focused on supporting and aiding Latinx children and women, helping them gain educational opportunities as well as reproductive opportunities, healthcare, and control. Ana is working as a communications assistant for LatinxEd’s “College y Consejos.” Ana is excited to support families and students through their college process and not only to teach, but to learn from the people and experiences she encounters through her work with LatinxEd.
