Alexa Jimenez Escribano is a first-generation Puerto-Rican-American. She attends Heritage High School in Wake Forest, where she was the captain of the school’s Junior Varsity soccer team, a member of Operation Wisdom (a nonprofit that teaches students about current global issues), and an ESL tutor. Passionate about gender and ethnic workplace diversity, Alexa actively pushes for more female representation in STEM. As a member of Young Women in Bio, she helps raise awareness among middle and high school students in the RTP area about STEM. She is also a member of the National Achievers Society, which promotes the success of minority students in their schools. Alexa plans to major in biomedical engineering and contribute to advancements in medical technology, and one day launch her own nonprofit to serve her community.
